“The Sorcerer is full of surprises, intricate mood swings and unfolds gradually, with all its meditativeness, leaving no opportunity for the listener to get bored.” Ilya Rasskazov, Jazzist Magazine, May 2021
Previously known for his work with London staple Jazz ensemble Phoenician Blinds, Franco-American pianist and composer Tom Sochas presents his debut album The Sorcerer (Khumbu Records) with Greek bassist Thodoris Ziarkas and British drummer Olly Sarkar.
The Sorcerer is an ode to storytelling, ancient myths and tales, something we tend to return to when in need of guidance. Expect a blend of delicate contrapuntal melodies and hard hitting post-bop, infused with textural analogue electronics.
