ITA | 1975 | dir. Luciano Salce, with Paolo Villaggio, Anna Mazzamauro
An insignificant cog in the wheels of a large company, Fantozzi starts his days battling against time (he must clock in) and overcrowded buses. The day goes on and he continues half hidden behind piles of work dumped on him by his crafty colleagues. And things are no better at home. Or in his free time. The film follows the hilarious and sometimes desperate trials and tribulations of our anti-hero, as he tries to get on in life. Released in 1975, Fantozzi is a cult film that immortalised the tragicomic inadequacy of the average Italian man.
The screening will be preceeded by a pre-recorded introduction by film critic Giona Nazzaro, Artistic Director of the Locarno Film Festival
