France | 1980 | col | dir. Maurice Pialat, with Isabelle Huppert, Gérard Depardieu, Guy Marchand
Isabelle Huppert is Nelly, a Parisian housewife, married to possessive husband André (Guy Marchand), who is ready to tear-off her middle-class bourgeois respectability for the sexually rapacious scoundrel Loulou (Gérard Depardieu). Maurice Pialat’s character study examines the power of sex and passion over class restrictions and social conventions. This unlikely magnetic pair of lovers made a legend of the Isabelle Huppert and Gérard Depardieu couple.
