TERMS AND CONDITIONS
On applying to become a member of the Institut français, you are agreeing to our general terms and conditions and the following membership terms and conditions.
Acceptance and processing of your membership application and receipt of your membership fee creates a valid and binding contract between you and the Institut français, which is governed by these terms and conditions.
We reserve the right to change these terms and conditions at any time.
MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
- Classic – individual membership that applies to one named adult – £50 (conc. £40*)
- Family – applies to one named adult and maximum 5 other persons – £85
- Kids – applies to one named youth under 12 years-old – £35
- Premium – applies to everyone and supports the life and program of the Institut français! – £110
- Schools – applies to schools registered in the United Kingdom – £100
*Membership concessionary fee
The Institut français offers a concessionary fee to the Classic membership, for £40 instead of £50.
Who is entitled? (on presentation of the necessary identification)
- full-time students, children (under 18), senior citizens, unemployed, registered disabled and French language teachers
- Students of the Instituto Cervantes, the Italian Cultural Institute and Goethe-Institut London
- ResCard holders
- members of CILIP
Free membership
If you are a student at the Language Centre you are entitled to a free classic membership valid for one year (and only once a year), upon presentation of an enrolment receipt.
To be valid, the subscription to the membership has to be done by the end of the course booked.

- Classic – max 1 ticket per film/event
- Family – max 2 tickets per film/event
- Kids – max 1 ticket per film/event

Library borrowing rights
- Classic – Includes La Médiathèque and the Children’s Library
20 items for 3 weeks, including 10 feature film DVDs and new items. - Family – Includes La Médiathèque and the Children’s Library
80 items for 3 weeks, including 20 feature films and new items. - Kids – For the Children’s Library only
20 items for 3 weeks, including 10 feature film DVDs and new items. - Premium – Includes La Médiathèque and the Children’s Library
Unlimited number of items for 9 weeks. - Schools – 60 items for 3 months

The membership and any associated benefits are non-transferable and can only be used by the named member(s) on the membership card.
The Institut français may, from time to time, review the range of benefits on offer to members and reserves the right to alter membership benefits and entry rights.
We reserve the right to suspend temporarily the benefits, or definitively forbid the access to the membership scheme to persons breaching our terms and conditions.
